Tianwei Tan

Professor Tianwei Tan is a prominent Chinese biochemical engineer and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). He is widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to the fields of biochemical engineering, industrial biotechnology, and bioenergy. His research has significantly advanced the development of sustainable bioprocesses and bio-based products.

Education and Career
Professor Tan earned his Bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University in China.

He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in the United Kingdom.

After his doctoral studies, he returned to China and joined Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), where he has held various leadership positions, including serving as the President of BUCT.

He is currently a professor at BUCT and the director of the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering.

Research Contributions
Professor Tan’s research focuses on the development of advanced bioprocesses for the production of bio-based chemicals, biofuels, and biomaterials. His work has led to significant advancements in the fields of enzyme engineering, metabolic engineering, and biorefinery technologies.
